๐ŸŒ What is WiFi?

WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity. It’s a technology that lets devices connect to the internet without cables, using radio waves instead.

๐Ÿ“ก How Devices Connect

Your device has a wireless adapter that converts data into radio signals. These are transmitted via antenna to a wireless router.

๐Ÿ”‘ The Router’s Job

The router receives signals from your devices, decodes them, and sends the information to the internet through a wired connection.

WiFi Frequency Bands

WiFi uses two main radio frequency bands to transmit data:

2.4 GHz Band

โ€ข Longer range but slower speeds

โ€ข More crowded (used by many devices)

โ€ข Better at going through walls

5 GHz Band

โ€ข Shorter range but faster speeds

โ€ข Less crowded (more available channels)

โ€ข Not as good through walls

WiFi Security Types

Different methods to protect your wireless network:

๐Ÿ”“

WEP (Old and Unsafe)

Easily cracked. Never use this!

โš ๏ธ

WPA (Better but Weak)

Improved security but still vulnerable

๐Ÿ”’

WPA2 (Current Standard)

Strong security used by most networks today

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

WPA3 (Newest & Safest)

Latest standard with even better protection
